Uptown

Charlotte’s Uptown streets are lined with bars, clubs, live music venues, and numerous restaurants. Stop in at Ri-Ra's, an Irish Pub that serves lunch and dinner. Enjoy great food, beer, and live traditional Irish music. Drop by Latorre's, a Latin-inspired restaurant that turns into the hottest Latin dance club in Charlotte on Friday and Saturday night. Free salsa lessons start at 10:30 p.m. Therapy Marketplace and Café is another popular hangout featuring live music, a full menu, and an extensive martini menu. On Wednesdays it’s Martini Madness with all martinis half price. 

Dilworth

East Blvd. runs through the heart of Dilworth and is home to numerous bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. Enjoy eats at the City Tavern then cruise down to Red Square for a quick game of pool, topped off with a fresh coffee from Starbucks.  If Asian fusion cooking is your thing, Zen is the best in town.

NODA 

Charlotte’s historic arts district is home to a collection of art galleries, performance venues, and funky restaurants. The neighborhood hosts a free gallery crawl every first and third Friday of the month.

Theaters and Museums

Discovery Place, The Museum of the New South, and The Mint Museum of Art are a few of the many cultural centers Charlotte has to offer. Discovery Place boasts a huge IMAX theater and has hosted many important exhibits, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls. Actor's Theater of Charlotte, along with the Children's Theater of Charlotte, produce many works by contemporary playwrights from off-broadway to regional shows.

Charlotte Symphony Orchestra

Catch a show Uptown or Summer Pops at Symphony Park near the South Park Mall.

Bobcat's Arena

Home of the Charlotte Bobcats NBA team and numerous  concerts.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden


 Located just west of
Charlotte, at the NC/SC state line, this 110 acre garden boasts a dozen sparkling fountains, themed gardens, and a 13,500-square-foot Visitor Pavilion. 

Lowe’s Motor Speedway

With a large majority of NASCAR teams based within 30 miles of Lowe’s Motor Speedway near
Charlotte, this is truly the heart of NASCAR country. The facility is considered one of the busiest sports venues in the country with more than 380 events a year.

Taste of Charlotte

Located in Uptown
Charlotte, Lowes Foods Taste of Charlotte is the area’s largest food festival. The event attracts more than 100,000 people and features food from some of Charlotte’s finest restaurants.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Parks & Recreation Department 

Home to 210 parks and facilities located on more than 16,500 acres of parkland throughout Mecklenburg County. Parks come in all shapes and sizes ranging from small neighborhood parks to large district parks. 

Charlotte's Annual Home & Garden Tour 

Hosted by the Mint Museums, this tour features an array of elegant homes and gardens located in some of Charlotte’s most beautiful neighborhoods.

Wachovia Championship

Hosted at Charlotte’s Quail Hollow Club and recognized by the golf community as one of the top events on the PGA Tour. 

Lake Norman

Located just outside of Charlotte, Lake Norman offers 520 miles of shoreline and is the largest manmade lake in the Carolinas. Enjoy a variety of water recreational activities, fine dining, and upscale shopping.

U.S. National Whitewater Center

This whitewater center is located just 15 minutes from the city center on the Catawba River. Over 300 acres of Class I - IV rapids available for amateurs to professionals. Trails for hiking, biking, and running complement this huge park. Trip fees start at $15.

Paramount Carrowinds


More than 105 acres of world-class rides, shows, and Hollywood-themed attractions, including rollercoasters, water rides, and a 13-acre water park.

Queen's Landing


A family entertainment center located on Lake Norman, Queen's Landing serves as the launching point for the Lady of the Lake and  the Catawba Queen. Both the Lady of the Lake (a 90 ft luxury yatch) and the Catawba Queen (a replica Mississippi riverboat) offer charters and nightly dinner cruises.
